SC Daily Meditations

„Amen, amen, I say to you: He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold but climbeth up another way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth: and the sheep hear his voice. And he calleth his own sheep by name and leadeth them out. And when he hath let out his own sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. But a stranger they follow not, but fly from him, because they know not the voice of strangers. “

John 10.1-5 (DRB)

His voice.

Can we hear God? Is God speaking to us? Are we able as humans to grasp what is He saying? We all have doubts in that subject.

One of the strongest doubts we can have in our life with God is if we know His voice. If we can hear him and actually recognize that it is him. But as you can see God’s point of view on that matter is clear, you know His voice if you belong to him. You wouldn’t be able to accept his redemption if you wouldn’t hear him. You wouldn’t be an active in faith Catholic if you don’t know him. You wouldn’t be reading this if you are not searching for him.  But all the time we are learning to know his voice better and better and it happens through many ways. It happens through our participation in sacraments and mass. It happens when we pray – when we not only ask but also listen what He has to say. It also happens through reading and meditating the Holy Scriptures. If we read God’s Word under direction of the Holy Spirit, God’s voice is becoming for us more obvious and we follow it. Hearing his voice is nothing magic it starts from knowing his Word through the Holy Spirit. It starts from our daily prayer life.
