Catholic Daily Reading 22nd January

"And the word of the Lord came to Jonas the second time saying:
Arise, and go to Ninive, the great city: and preach in it the preaching that I bid thee.
And Jonas arose, and went to Ninive, according to the word of the Lord: now Ninive was a great city of three days' journey.
And Jonas began to enter into the city one day's journey: and he cried and said: Yet forty days and Ninive shall be destroyed.
And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least.
And God saw their works, that they were turned from their evil way: and God had mercy with regard to the evil which he had said that he would do to them, and he did it not."
Jonah 3.1-5,10

"Let all them be confounded that act unjust things without cause. Shew, O Lord, thy ways to me, and teach me thy paths.
Direct me in thy truth, and teach me; for thou art God my Saviour; and on thee have I waited all the day long.
Remember, O Lord, thy bowels of compassion; and thy mercies that are from the beginning of the world.
The sins of my youth and my ignorances do not remember. According to thy mercy remember thou me: for thy goodness' sake, O Lord.
The Lord is sweet and righteous: therefore he will give a law to sinners in the way.
He will guide the mild in judgment: he will teach the meek his ways."
Psalm 25.4-5,6-7,8-9

"And after that John was delivered up, Jesus came in Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
And saying: The time is accomplished and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the gospel:
And passing by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting nets into the sea for they were fishermen.
And Jesus said to them: Come after me; and I will make you to become fishers of men.
And immediately leaving their nets, they followed him.
And going on from thence a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who also were mending their nets in the ship:
And forthwith he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with his hired men, they followed him."
Mark 1.14-20
